MAPP Beta Test

MAPP Beta Test takes you through all the steps that are needed to conduct a thorough and effective beta test for the introduction of a new or revised product.

MAPP Beta Test has been created through research with companies that have recently been through a beta or introduction process. Using their experience and knowledge you will be able to quickly generate a simple and comprehensive beta test plan for and your team challenging you to address a wide range of issues that may never normally ask yourself when it comes to running such a test programme.

MAPP Beta Test has over 35 separate steps that are recommended as the key ones that will help you to create a robust plan for the process so it’s pretty likely that you will need to do most, if not all, of them yourself if you too are trying to run a similar beta or controlled introduction process.

Categories of decisions that make up this set include:

People – Decision steps related to establishing which roles and people you will need to conduct the test including identifying target test users through to assigning responsibility to deal with issues raised.

Operations - Decision steps related to the key actions needed to ensure that the test is carried out effectively including configuring a reporting system through to delivering incentives for participating testers.

Marketing – Decision steps related to how communications about the test will be managed internally and externally including creating a testers information pack through to publishing a report about the test once finished.

Strategy – Decision steps related to what wider issues need to be addressed as part of the test including defining the test parameters through to defining what response times you offer to address issues that are uncovered as part of the test.

Who is it Aimed at?

MAPP Beta Test is aimed primarily at those organsations that are embarking on a beta, pilot or controlled introduction process of a new product or service and who generally have not gone through the process ever before or even recently. Using the experience of others who have been through these types of programmes before and who have had to deal with making mistakes and missing key steps, it can be used with physical or digital implementations.  MAPP Beta Test enables the firm to ask all the questions it would not normally ask itself about what it needs to do to run the test effectively and efficiently. It is generic in outlook and can be useful for product/service introductions of all kinds. Although this set can be used by individuals on their own we recommend using it with at least one other person to generate reflection and perspective.
