MAPP Export Standard
MAPP Export Standard has been created through research with companies that have started to export from a home based market. Using their experience and avoiding their mistakes you will be able to quickly generate a simple and comprehensive export plan for and your team asking you all the questions that you may never ask yourself when it comes to starting to trade in a new market.
MAPP Export Standard has over 50 separate steps that are recommended as the key ones that will help you to create a robust plan for export so it’s pretty likely that you will need to do most, if not all, of them yourself if you too are trying to set up abroad.
Categories of decisions that make up this set include:
Research – Decision steps related to finding out what you will need to know in advance of starting the process of exporting including understanding demand in your target markets through to identifying potential competitors in those markets.
Operations - Decision steps related to the key actions needed to ensure that the organisation is prepared for export including options relating to checking IP protection through to development of the correct documentation.
Marketing – Decision steps related to how marketing decisions about the export plan will be managed internally and externally including setting appropriate pricing for each market through to accessing local social media in your chosen markets..
Strategy – Decision steps related to what key information and decisions need to be addressed in advance including identifying all relevant risks through to selecting the method by which you will enter the new market.
Money - Decision steps related to the elemenst of the export plan that involve money including costing transport of goods to the new markets through to identifying appropriate duties and taxes.

Who is it Aimed at?
MAPP Export Standard is aimed primarily at those organsations that are embarking on an export strategy to a new foreign market and who generally have not gone through the process ever before or even recently. Using the experience of others who have been through exporting before and who have had to deal with making mistakes and missing key steps, MAPP Export Standard enables the firm to ask all the questions it would not normally ask itself about what it needs to do to start exporting quickly and efficiently. It is generic in outlook and can be useful for businesses of all kinds. Although this set can be used by individuals on their own we recommend using it with at least one other person to generate reflection and perspective.
